Balls, forms and rarity
From the Polandball Go Wiki
A ball, or Polbie in the game's own word, is one collectible character: a country, a city, an empire, an organization or an idea, from Poland and Prague to the African Union, NAFTA and Sealand. The Dex counted 952 Polbies in October 2026, each with a number, so Prague is #980 and Sleepy Hollow #981.
1 What every ball has#
Each ball in the game's catalogue comes with:
- One or two types, out of seventeen. The British Empire is Water and Light, Russia is Ice and Energy, Switzerland is Balance alone. See Types and matchups.
- A rarity, from Common to Mythical.
- Five country stats, Military, Population, Economy, Diplomacy and Soft Power, each from 1 to 100. The British Empire has 98, 95, 95, 92 and 90. Switzerland has 40, 15, 95, 95 and 75. See Country stats.
- A base CP, the CP of a fresh level 1 copy of its base form. The British Empire's is 1,688.
- A description, a line of lore. The British Empire's describes an empire where the sun never sets.
2 Forms#
Many balls have forms, the game's word for skins: alternative versions with their own art, name and lore. Witching Hour Prague is a form of Prague, Global Dominion British Empire a form of the British Empire. The Dex shows them on the base ball's card ("Forms 1/2 collected"), so collecting a form fills part of that ball's entry rather than a new one.
A form changes some things and not others.
Rarity can change. A form has its own rarity, higher or lower than its base:
- The British Empire is Mythical. Global Dominion British Empire is Legendary.
- Mali Empire is Uncommon. Mansa of Abundance Mali Empire is Legendary.
- Eclipse is Legendary. Bloodmoon Eclipse is Legendary too, Chained Eclipse is Epic and Crimson Peaks Eclipse is Uncommon.
- Prague's form Witching Hour Prague is a Common.
Typing can change. Some forms bring their own types. The British Empire is Water and Light, but Global Dominion British Empire is Cosmic only. Eclipse is Shadow and Cosmic, Bloodmoon Eclipse Cosmic alone. China is Agriculture and Energy, while Firecracker China is Fire and Koi Pond China is Water. Other forms keep their base typing, as Witching Hour Prague keeps Prague's Storm and Shadow.
Stats don't change from upgrades or level ups. Every form uses its base ball's five country stats. A Firecracker China and a Jiangshi China fight with exactly China's Military, Population, Economy, Diplomacy and Soft Power, even though one is Legendary and the other Common. Stats can be nerfed or buffed. On October 23rd, 2026, [Sealand] (wiki:trades-and-friends) was buffed to have improved base stats, given that it's previous state was weaker than what the developers thought a mythical ball should be.
Balls with no base form
A few dozen characters have no base form at all: their first form is the only version anyone can own. NAFTA, for instance, exists only as World Cup Hosts, a Mythical form that is Nature and Cosmic where the NAFTA character itself is listed as Energy and Balance. The Baltic States come only as forms such as Cerberus Baltic States, an Epic in Trick or Treat.
3 Rarity#
There are six rarities. Rarity sets how often a ball turns up in Recruit and how many stars a fresh copy starts at:
- Common: 50.5% of pulls, starts at 1★.
- Uncommon: 31.5%, starts at 2★.
- Rare: 13.7%, starts at 3★.
- Epic: 3.4%, starts at 4★.
- Legendary: 0.85%, starts at 5★.
- Mythical: 0.05%, starts at 6★.
Rarity also decides a few rules elsewhere:
- Trades must be between balls of the same rarity. Epic and Legendary trades also use your one weekly Trade Permit, and Mythicals can't be traded at all. See Trades and friends.
- The Rarity League runs one rarity a day, Common to Epic. Legendary and Mythical balls have no day of their own. See PvP leagues.
- Some items only fit certain rarities. Mossball Orb, for one, is for Common or Uncommon balls only. See Items, tiers and resonance.
4 Rarity and strength#
Rarity gives a ball a head start, not a ceiling. Rarer balls start with more stars and a higher base CP: the Mythical British Empire, United Nations and NAFTA all list base CPs between 1,660 and 1,690. But the CP a ball gains from levels, prestige and orbs is the same for every ball, and stars add the most CP to the balls that start lowest. A Common climbing from 1★ to 6★ gains 1,900 CP on the way, an Epic 1,150, a Legendary 700 and a Mythical nothing. See Levels, stars and CP.
Country stats aren't tied to rarity either. Berlin and Russia are both Epic, yet Berlin's Military is 20 and Russia's is 95. At the same CP, Russia's normal hit is about 55% bigger. See Choosing balls to invest in.
5 Copies#
You can hold many copies of one ball, and each is its own instance. Every copy has its own level, stars, prestige, orb levels, item, nickname and primary typing, the one of its two types it attacks with. Two United States copies can attack with Oil and with Agriculture. See Primary typing.
A copy's details screen records when you got it and where from, such as "Obtained Oct 10, 2026, Source: Trick or Treat". The game keeps that date across trades, which is how it orders a ball's earliest owners. See Leaderboards and first owners.
Copies you don't need can be scrapped for Scrap Sand, the currency trades and crafting run on. A copy that's defending territory shows as Deployed in the collection filter.
6 On polbielytics#
The Polbies Dex lists every ball and form with its rarity, types and stats, and each ball's page shows its forms, its sets and its CP growth.
