Levels, stars and CP
From the Polandball Go Wiki
CP, or Combat Power, is the number on every ball card. It starts at the CP a ball has when you pull it and grows as you level the ball, rank up its stars, prestige it and upgrade its orbs. The game doesn't publish how, but the steps have been worked out from real collections, and they turn out to be simple: every upgrade adds a fixed amount of CP, the same for every ball, with no multipliers anywhere.
1 The four kinds of step#
Level
A ball's level runs from 1 to 30 and is raised with Influence from the ball's Level Up button. Each level from 2 to 20 adds 50 CP, so level 20 is worth 950 CP over a fresh copy. After that the steps get bigger:
- Level 21: +150
- Level 22: +200
- Level 23: +250
- Level 24: +300
Levels 21 to 24 together add 900 more, for 1,850 from level 1 to 24. What levels 25 to 30 add isn't known yet, and neither is the Influence cost of each level.
Stars
A fresh copy starts at the stars its rarity gives it: 1★ for a Common, 2★ Uncommon, 3★ Rare, 4★ Epic, 5★ Legendary and 6★ Mythical. Each star above that adds CP:
- Reaching 2★: +50
- Reaching 3★: +350
- Reaching 4★: +350
- Reaching 5★: +450
- Reaching 6★: +700
So a Common gains 1,900 CP climbing from 1★ to 6★, an Uncommon 1,850, a Rare 1,500, an Epic 1,150 and a Legendary 700. A Mythical is already at 6★ and gains nothing here. Stars are raised by ranking up. The game hints that ranking up uses up other balls ("Rank Up some Polbies to free up space"), but the exact recipe isn't confirmed.
Prestige
Once a ball is at 6★ it can prestige, paid for with Prestige Fragments:
- Prestige 1: +500
- Prestige 2: +600
- Prestige 3: +800
- Prestige 4: +1,000
That's 2,900 CP for the first four levels. Prestige 5 and 6 exist, but what they add isn't known. See Prestige.
Orbs
Each of a ball's three Type Proficiency tracks, Attack, Multiattack and Ultimate, runs from level 1 to 10, and each level above 1 adds 10 CP. A track at level 10 adds 90, and all three at 10 add 270. The game's own screen agrees: Attack at level 10 reads "Combat Power +90". The orbs matter far more for what they do in fights than for their CP. See Type Proficiency and orbs.
2 Putting it together#
Add the steps that apply to a fresh copy's CP and you have its CP. Taking a copy to level 24, 6★, prestige 4 and all three orb tracks at 10 adds:
- Common: 1,850 + 1,900 + 2,900 + 270 = 6,920 CP
- Epic: 1,850 + 1,150 + 2,900 + 270 = 6,170 CP
- Legendary: 1,850 + 700 + 2,900 + 270 = 5,720 CP
- Mythical: 1,850 + 0 + 2,900 + 270 = 5,020 CP
The gap between rarities shrinks as balls grow, because stars give the most to the balls that start lowest. Rarity still gives a head start in the CP a ball is pulled at.
Real top balls go further, into levels 25 and up. An Eclipse at level 25 and prestige 4, with Attack orbs at 10, Multiattack at 6 and Ultimate at 8, showed 8,827 CP. In alliance wars, the top alliances defend with balls around 9,000 CP.
3 Order doesn't matter, but cost does#
Because every step simply adds, the order you upgrade in doesn't change the final CP. Prestige 1 adds 500 whether the ball is level 5 or level 24. What differs is cost: levels take Influence, stars take ranking up, prestige takes fragments, and orbs take orbs of the ball's own type, and each runs out at a different pace. See Choosing balls to invest in.
4 What CP does in a fight#
In PvP and war duels, CP is the base of almost every figure:
- Max HP is CP times a factor from Population, between 0.7 and 1.3.
- Attack, the normal hit, is 40% of CP times a factor from Military.
- Protection, a one-time shield, includes up to 20% of CP from Economy.
Since CP sets both how hard a ball hits and how much it can take, a CP lead counts twice. A ball with 10% more CP than its opponent, with the same stats, hits 10% harder and has 10% more HP, which works out to about a 21% edge in the race to a KO. See Country stats and How a duel works.
Level and rank also feed Speed, which sets who hits first. Each level above 1 adds 2% and each rank above 1 adds 5%, where rank is stars plus prestige. A level 21 ball at 6★ and prestige 3 has a level factor of 1.40 and a rank factor of 1.40.
The catalogue's base CP doesn't enter any fight. Duels always use the copy's real CP from your roster. In raids the damage formula isn't published.
5 What isn't known#
- What levels 25 to 30 add.
- What prestige 5 and 6 add.
- The Influence cost of each level, and the exact recipe for ranking up stars.
- What the Global Power figure on the leaderboards is built from.
6 On polbielytics#
Each ball's page has a CP growth table that applies these steps to that ball: its CP at every star, at levels 20 to 24, at each prestige level and with all orbs at 10.
