Item fine print

From the Polandball Go Wiki

Items, tiers and resonance covers what items are and how resonance works. These are the details that are easy to miss.

1 Raids and duels use items differently#

  • In raids an item adds its attack to each hit, typed by its resonance, and its effect line applies: statuses, execute, double damage, unexhaust and the rest. See Item effects and Status stacks and triggers.
  • In PvP duels and alliance war attacks only the item's two numbers count. Attack powers the Weapon move, and defense adds to Protection. No effect line ever applies there, not even unexhaust. See Weapon and item power.
  • A ball with no item has no Weapon move in a duel at all.

2 The same on every copy#

  • Items have no levels. Every copy of an item has the same attack, defense, resonance and effect.
  • Every ball holding an item gets two Weapon charges a duel, whatever the item. A ✦ item and a ✦✦✦✦✦ item both give two.
  • A Weapon hits with the item's resonance type, or the ball's own attack type when the item has no resonance. The game's item list also carries a separate "Weapon attack type" field. For the items checked it has always matched the resonance.

3 Rarity beside the tier#

Items carry a rarity word as well as their ✦ tier. A Battle Shield card reads "✦ COMMON". Rarity mostly follows the tier but not always: the World Rift items added at ✦✦✦ on October 28, 2026 included both Epic and Legendary ones. World Rift equipment runs from Epic to Mythical.

4 The ✦✦✦✦✦ tier#

Since October 30, 2026, the game's item list has a fifth tier. The ✦✦✦✦✦ items are all World Rift equipment:

Void Blade's 26,000 attack is more than the Glorious Mace's 20,000, and Metal Amulet's 20,000 defense equals the Glorious Shield's. The Glorious Set no longer has the biggest numbers in the game. In duels, attack past about 4,000 adds little to a Weapon hit, so the gap matters less there than the numbers suggest.

5 Requirements added on October 30, 2026#

Several World Rift items gained a type requirement when the game reworked them:

See Item requirements.

6 The game changes items without patch notes#

  • On October 30, 2026 at 00:55 UTC the game reworked all 38 items from the October 28 World Rift release at once: tiers went up, stats went up, and effects and requirements were rewritten. Heaume, for one, went from ✦✦✦ at 1,500 / 4,500 to ✦✦✦✦ at 6,000 / 12,000.
  • Before update 5.0, Divine Halo's resonance changed from Light to Faith.
  • The game's Atlas can lag these changes by days. The item list in the game itself is the one that counts.
  • An item the game retires stays in its list, marked inactive, so old copies and links keep working.

7 First owners of an item#

An item's first-owners list ranks players by the first time each ever got the item, whether or not they still hold it. A ball's list works the other way: it ranks copies that still exist, so a scrapped early copy drops out. See Leaderboards, first owners and the Atlas.

8 Not known#

  • Whether any item's Weapon attack type differs from its resonance.
  • How the game decides an item's rarity word.
