Vengeful bosses

From the Polandball Go Wiki

Frogi, Mud, Lotzie and Luna are 3★ bosses that wait on floor 6. Beating one of them doesn't finish the raid. Each carries a Vengeance trait, and when it falls it spawns the Vengeful form of one of the other three. The raid ends when that Vengeful boss is beaten.

1 How the spawn works#

The four Vengeance traits read the same way. Frogi Vengeance says "On defeat, randomly spawn one of: Vengeful Mud, Vengeful Lotzie, or Vengeful Luna." Mud's pool is Vengeful Frogi, Lotzie and Luna, Lotzie's is Vengeful Frogi, Mud and Luna, and Luna's is Vengeful Frogi, Mud and Lotzie. A boss never spawns its own Vengeful form, and each of the three in its pool is equally likely.

The game's effect data adds one condition: the spawn only fires when the last Mymic carrying that Vengeance falls. This matters for Luna, whose split copies all carry Luna Vengeance, so you don't get a Vengeful boss for each copy. Luna raids can still end with two or three Vengeful bosses, and exactly how that happens isn't known.

The Vengeful forms have no Vengeance of their own, so a Vengeful boss never spawns another one.

2 Frogi and Vengeful Frogi#

Frogi is Ice and Light with 300,000 HP. Its trait Judgment reads "After damage calculation, attacks from Balls with CP above 8000 add a stack. At 5 stacks, exhaust all remaining Balls in the party."

The count is shared by the whole party and never goes down. Four attacks from balls above 8,000 CP are safe, and the fifth exhausts everything you have left. A ball at exactly 8,000 CP doesn't add a stack, since the trait says "above". A workable plan is to spend those four big attacks where they count and do the rest of the work with balls under the line.

Vengeful Frogi has 375,000 HP and Ascended Judgment: "After damage calculation, attacks from Balls with CP above 7500 add a stack. At 3 stacks, exhaust all remaining Balls in the party." The bar drops to 7,500 CP and you get only two safe attacks above it. The game's data says an attack adds a stack even when it misses or is blocked, while item resonance hits don't count.

On the type chart, Chaos, Cosmic, Metal, Shadow and Storm are strong against Frogi's Ice and Light. Energy, Ice, Light, Water and Wind are weak against it.

3 Mud and Vengeful Mud#

Mud is Ice and Storm with 300,000 HP and two traits that pull against each other.

  • Type Conduit: "When attacked, gain a Type Shield matching the attack's type." A Type Shield "Blocks the next attacks of a specific type," so the next hit of that type does nothing.
  • Exposed: "This Mymic has no type resistances. Resisted hits are treated as neutral."

Exposed means no type is bad against Mud, so you are free to rotate. Type Conduit blocks the next hit of any type already used on it, so leaning on one type wastes every other hit of it. Faith, Fire, Metal, Mountain and Wind are strong against it on the chart.

Vengeful Mud has 300,000 HP and loses Exposed. Its Ascended Type Conduit reads "When attacked, become Immune to that attack's type for the rest of the encounter." Once a type has been used on it, that type is shut out for good, and the game's data says this happens even when the attack dealt no damage. Without Exposed, the chart applies normally again, and Agriculture is weak against both of its types.

4 Lotzie and Vengeful Lotzie#

Lotzie is Cosmic and Energy with 250,000 HP, the lowest of the four. Its trait Neutralize reads "When I gain a new Status Effect, I also gain a stack of Shield." Shield "Blocks the next attacks," one hit per stack, so every status your items put on Lotzie costs you a blocked hit. Items that bypass Shield, such as Dustpiercer and Cosmic Glacialis, get around it.

Vengeful Lotzie has 300,000 HP and Ascended Neutralize: "When I gain a new Status Effect, I also gain 1 stack of Shield and 2 stacks of Preservation." Preservation reads in part "Shields still block without being spent," and loses a stack each time the Mymic is attacked. One status can therefore cost several blocked attacks.

Light, Mountain and Nature are strong against Lotzie's two types. Fire and Water are weak against both of them.

5 Luna and Vengeful Luna#

Luna is Chaos and Shadow with 300,000 HP. Shadow Split reads "After every 2 successful damaging attacks, I gain 10,000 HP and split into 2 exact copies." The game's data says the copies keep every status Luna had and carry Shadow Split themselves, so they go on splitting. It also says the copies share one reward, so splitting Luna doesn't hand out extra drop chances.

Vengeful Luna has 350,000 HP and Ascended Shadow Split: "After every 2 successful damaging attacks, I split into 3 exact copies." There is no HP bonus this time, but the data gives each of the three copies half of the HP Luna had when she split, so the total goes up by half with every split.

Balance, Chaos, Faith, Fire and Light are strong against Luna. Agriculture, Metal, Shadow and Wind are weak against her.

6 Drops#

Each Vengeful boss drops the same ✦✦✦✦ item as its base form, at the same chance. Each kill gives everyone in the party their own chance at its drops, so a run that beats Luna and then Vengeful Frogi gives each raider a chance at Arachnid Claws and another at Blade of Eternal Radiance. The game's Atlas lists these chances per kill:

  • Blade of Eternal Radiance (Light, 3,000 attack, 5,000 defense), "Resonance deals 10x damage to Bosses": Frogi and Vengeful Frogi, 0.25%
  • Fractal Scarf (Ice, 12,000 attack, 6,000 defense), "On hit: Remove all of the Mymic's stackable Traits, then apply 5 stacks each of Unbalanced and Hushed": Mud and Vengeful Mud, 0.25%
  • Windeluft (Cosmic, 9,000 attack, 5,000 defense), "On hit: Apply 10 stacks of Starstruck": Lotzie and Vengeful Lotzie, 0.75%
  • Arachnid Claws (Shadow, 8,000 attack, 4,000 defense), "On hit: Apply 3 stacks of Poison, then split the target into 2 copies with half its current HP": Luna and Vengeful Luna, 0.25%

Special bosses covers the other unusual 3★ fights, and Drops and drop rates explains how chances per kill add up.
